PEJOURNAL – Latin American organizations condemn the normalization of relationships between UAE, Bahrain and Israel through an statement.
The full text of statement is as follow:
From Conaicop and Majdi, we express our rejection of the signing of the Commitment Agreement to normalize relations between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Israel through the “Abraham Agreement” for constituting a betrayal of the Palestinian cause.
This agreement ignores all the atrocities that have been inflicted on the Palestinian people and tramples their historical rights to the land, it also mocks the collective memory of Western Asia since it was signed on the same date that marks 38 years of the massacre of Sabra and Shatila where more than 3,000 Palestinians were killed at the hands of the Lebanese ultra-right and the Israeli army.
Furthermore, this agreement violates the resolutions of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as the Arab League and the Association for Islamic Cooperation to which both the UAE and Bahrain belong.
Without forgetting Law 15 of 1972 that was sanctioned by the Arab League and details the sanctions against Israel, the decision to repeal it is a clear betrayal of many years of cooperation with the countries of the region regarding the atrocities suffered by the Palestinians.
In addition, it should be noted that the signing of the compromise agreement with Israel violates the Constitution of Eau since in Article 45 it establishes the Supreme Council of the Union as the consultative and legislative body whose function is the ratification of international agreements and treaties sanctioned by Decree, this Council at no time met to ratify such an agreement, the product of a tyrant and oppressive government that sanctions with more than half a million dirhams to any person who manifests against the government, in addition to imprisoning them for it.
On the other hand, Bahrain, which is another oppressive government since 2011, persecutes opponents, in recent days it has experienced massive demonstrations against the agreement despite the repression and the silencing of the hegemonic media.
This agreement, far from solving the occupation of Palestine, allows the imperialist forces to continue present in the region.
As Latin Americans we resist the imperialist forces trampling on our rights, it is for this reason that we support the Palestinian cause and urge other brothers to speak out against this decision that will bring more violence in the region.
Without justice there is no peace.
Free Palestine!
