Income Inequality and its Associated Negative Outcomes in the USA

Income Inequality and its Associated Negative Outcomes in the USA

BY: Andrew Rupp PEJOURNAL - Since the 1970’s, most member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have shown rising levels of income inequality (d’Agostino et al., 2020). In the USA the existence of income inequality is widely known, yet many remain unaware of the current, colossal levels of inequality (Norton and Ariely, 2011). Indeed, as recent as 2016, the combined global wealth of 99% of the world’s population was still less than that owned by the richest 1% (Oxfam International, 2017). In America in 2016, the wealthiest 10% owned nearly 80% of the nation’s wealth while…

The day before, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov also arrived in the Syrian capital. Lavrov’s trip from the point of view of the Arab…

Who will win the United States election?

Who will win the United States election?

BY: Valeria Rodriguez PEJOURNAL - On November 3, the presidential elections will be held in the United States and despite the fact that the polls indicate that the Democratic candidate is ahead, nothing has yet been given. So far, most polls put Democratic candidate Joe Biden at the head of the preferences over Republican candidate Donald Trump, who in his first virtual fundraiser for his re-election raised $ 20 million and admitted that he will invest from his own fortune in his re-election. Let's remember that in 2016, Trump invested 60 million of his assets to win the elections. Although…

Electoral exploitation of Afghanistan peace talks

PEJOURNAL - The head of the Russian Academy of Geopolitical Studies said that the US government debt, which has reached more than $ 22 trillion, and the US government's $ 3 trillion budget deficit are among the issues that will affect the results of the presidential election. "The Trump administration is trying to use the negotiations between the Afghans and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan for electoral purposes," Leonid Ivashov said, adding that the trigger mechanism (snapback) had led to international isolation and frustration with the United States. "It is unlikely that the United States will not live up…

The next subprime crisis could be in food

The next subprime crisis could be in food

BY: Rana Foroohar PEJOURNAL - Of all the many problems caused by Covid-19, three of the most visible have been food insecurity, the demise of small businesses and asset market volatility. All of those things might be poised to get worse, thanks to an unexpected but important financial shift. Big banks, including ABN Amro, ING and BNP Paribas, are either pulling out of commodity trade financing or scaling it back. This will leave a funding hole for some farmers, agricultural producers and distributors, as well as grocery chains and other small and medium-sized companies that represent crucial parts of the…

Neither the R’s nor the D’s seem fit to heal the United States disunity

Neither the R’s nor the D’s seem fit to heal the United States disunity

PEJOURNAL - Americans well know that the United States is basically divided into two camps comprising the two political parties, the Republicans (R’s) and the Democrats (D’s), neither of which are offering much to the average citizen and both of which is almost surely going to sink the US into a deeper morass than already exists with respect to useless foreign and domestic policies. One the R side one witnesses a bunch of loonies who don’t give serious thought to much of anything and enjoy the camaraderie of their kind, public rallies of all sorts some of which may include…
